the project

We believe in fresh starts. We believe in a better future. We believe life is worth an investment.

Homes of freedom is the only recovery shelter in the Northwest United States specifically for human trafficking survivors. Our passion is to help restore the victims of modern day slavery, so they can discover hope for their futures. Our goals are to provide a safe and secure shelter that offers them the comforts of a home they've likely never had. We stand by these survivors as they confront and work through their emotional and physical trauma with professional counselors. We offer mentoring to help model life skills and parenting skills. Our case manager guides the women as they discover their aptitudes and future job possibilities. Most of all, we hope to offer them an atmosphere of love and friendship, security and acceptance.

Our first Home of Freedom opened in 2008 in Western Washington, at a confidential location. It was named for our founder's mother, who adopted Rani Hong not knowing of her childhood as a human trafficking victim in India. Nell Clark's unconditional love helped restore Rani, so that she's now compelled to do the same for other survivors.
